My Screencast

I was going to upload my screencast on "How to Use the Links Toolbar in Internet Explorer" but it's too big. Blog accepts 100 MB max - my screencast is 6 minutes long (hey, there's a LOT of information!) and is 200 MB. Oops. I'll have to figure out where I can upload this thing.

3-20-2009: Today I tried a trial version of Digital Media Converter ($40) to convert the screencast from .AVI to .WMF (Windows Media). There is an excellent article about .AVI files (they are HUGE) on the Deskshare (vendor) web site. The trial version plastered a big "TRIAL" across the screencast, so you can't just use it and split. However - I think I'll do this ONE MORE TIME with a slightly lower video resolution. The converter reduced my file from 200 MB to 52 MB. Impressive!

3-25-2009: Re-recorded the screencast with lower audio and video settings in SnagIt. Always check the website of the product you are using for tips on reducing the size of AVI files. Here's the SnagIt article on Reducing AVI File Size. Using new settings, I went down to 85 MB.
